Geography
Kochi is a city and a natural seaport located in Kerala State,
southwestern India. It lies at the northern end of a narrow
neck of land, about 19 km (about 12 miles) long and less than
1.6 km (less than 1 mile) wide in many places, and is separated
from the mainland by inlets from the sea and by the estuaries
of rivers draining from the Western Ghats.

Malayalam, the official language of the State of Kerala. English
is widely used in business circles. Hindi and a host of north
Indian languages are also spoken.
Getting There
If you wish to travel by Air, Kochi is connected by excellent
air network to all major cities in India. For reaching Kochi
there are three main railway stations, namely, Ernakulam Junction,
Ernakulam Town and Harbor Terminus on Willingdon Island.
Kochi (Cochin), an important commercial center of the South
India is very well serviced by a network of national and state
highways, connecting it to all major centers of the area.
You can also take the help of local transport like Taxis,
city buses and autorickshaws. Ferry service is available for
travel between the island towns.
Best Season, Climate and Clothing
Being situated very close to the sea, Kochi has a moderate
climate, with heavy rains during June-August due to the southwest
monsoon. Winter starts from December and continues till February.
In summer, the temperature rises to a maximum of 35°C
and 25°C in the winters. Annual average rainfall is 310
cm.
